Maitake mushrooms grow wild in clusters at the base of trees. They are also known as 'Hen of the Woods' because a cluster of these mushrooms resembles the ruffled feathers of a hen sitting on her nest. Traditionally foraged and with a meaty, truffle like taste, I am sure mushroom fans will love them on toast or in pasta dishes!
